Job Summary
Acorn Community Bank is a Credit Union working across our communities to provide financial services to thousands of members.
We are looking for someone who has experience in bookkeeping and managing financial transactions. The Finance Officer will work as part of the operations team, ensuring that inbound transactions are allocated correctly to member accounts and bank accounts reconciled. This work will require someone who has an acute attention to detail. Initially the work will be in our office in Cavendish Square, Swindon, with home working available once training is complete.
Note that Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings (8am – 11pm) are fixed core hours for this role (excluding holidays), so as to fit in with other members of the team and operational requirements. There may be an occasional requirement to work on other days to cover holidays.
Key Aspects of this role are:
- Posting of inbound transactions to member accounts
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Following up and allocating unposted transactions accurately
- Supporting other members of the team with financial/account queries
Skills
- Confident using computers (including Microsoft Office) and comfortable with learning new systems.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Good communication and team working skills
- A positive attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
The successful candidate will be part of a small office team, and there may be future opportunities to expand the work (and the hours worked) to contribute in other ways within the office. There will be some opportunities for home working once the probationary period and training has been completed.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
