Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our family run cafe in Cuckfield. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages and providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Your role is crucial in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while ensuring that all food safety and preparation standards are met.
Experience is essential and weekend availability is a must.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
- Assist with food preparation as needed, including pastries and light snacks.
- Engage with customers to take orders, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction with their experience.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently using basic maths skills.
- Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive working environment and assist where help is needed.
- Applicants must be confident, courteous, have great communication skills, have a strong work ethic and work well in a team. They should know how to take initiative, be efficient and be motivated to be a strong asset in a small family run business.
- Shifts are 8:30am - 4pm Tuesday through to Sunday.
- Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
- Expected hours: 24 - 40 hours per week

Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or as a Barista is required
- Strong understanding of food safety practices.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting.
- A friendly disposition with the ability to engage positively with customers and colleagues alike.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
