As part of our continued growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth, develop strategic partnerships, expand our customer base, and support the commercial development of the business.
This is a senior commercial role focused on generating business opportunities, developing supplier relationships, increasing customer acquisition, and identifying new revenue streams within the travel and tourism sector.
The role reports directly to the company directors but operates independently with responsibility for business development, customer acquisition, commercial growth, and supplier relationship management.
Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing commercial opportunities that contribute directly to company growth, customer acquisition, supplier expansion, and increased revenue generation.
The role will focus on building sustainable business relationships, expanding market reach, developing travel products and services, and supporting the company's long-term commercial objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Revenue Growth
- Develop and implement business development strategies to increase revenue and market share.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across corporate, leisure, group, and specialist travel sectors.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective customers and business partners.
- Generate new sales opportunities through networking, referrals, strategic partnerships, and business outreach.
- Convert enquiries into confirmed business opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and identify emerging travel opportunities.
- Develop strategies to improve customer acquisition and retention.
- Support the achievement of company sales and revenue targets.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with corporate clients, travel customers, organisations, and commercial partners.
- Conduct client meetings and business development presentations.
- Manage key customer accounts and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to increase repeat business and customer retention.
- Develop tailored travel solutions that meet client requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for commercial customers and strategic partners.
Supplier & Partnership Development
- Identify and develop relationships with airlines, hotels, tour operators, travel consolidators, destination management companies, and travel service providers.
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve service offerings.
- Negotiate commercial arrangements and partnership opportunities where appropriate.
- Develop strategic supplier relationships that support profitability and business growth.
- Monitor industry developments and identify potential new suppliers and service providers.
Product & Service Development
- Assist in the development of travel packages, corporate travel solutions, and specialist travel services.
- Identify customer demand trends and recommend new products and services.
- Support the design of competitive travel offerings.
- Work with suppliers and partners to enhance customer experiences and service delivery.
- Contribute ideas that improve operational efficiency and commercial performance.
Market Research & Commercial Analysis
- Conduct market research to identify new growth opportunities.
- Analyse competitor activity and market positioning.
- Monitor industry developments and customer behaviour.
- Produce reports and recommendations to support commercial decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for geographic, sector, and service expansion.
Business Representation
- Represent the company at networking events, trade exhibitions, industry meetings, and business development activities.
- Promote the company's services and strengthen brand visibility.
- Develop professional relationships that contribute to long-term business growth.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Maintain accurate records of business development activity.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports on sales activity, pipeline development, customer acquisition, and revenue opportunities.
- Monitor key performance indicators and recommend improvements.
- Provide regular updates to directors on commercial activity and growth opportunities.
Essential Experience & Skills
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in business development, commercial management, sales management, travel management, or a related field.
- Proven experience generating revenue and developing new business opportunities.
- Strong client relationship management experience.
- Experience negotiating and managing commercial relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the travel, tourism, hospitality, aviation, or leisure sectors.
- Experience developing corporate accounts and strategic partnerships.

Pay: £55,200.00 per year
