Beacon Childcare is looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager / Responsible Individual to join our senior management team, overseeing our children’s residential homes across the West Midlands.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who has previously been registered as a Responsible Individual and is looking for a senior role where they can have a real impact on the quality, development and continued success of our services.
The role will be predominantly West Midlands based, with regular travel required between the homes you are registered for.
The Role
As Operations Manager / Responsible Individual, you will provide leadership, oversight and support across our residential services, working closely with Registered Managers and the wider senior management team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the Responsible Individual for designated children's residential homes.
- Providing effective oversight, leadership and challenge to Registered Managers.
- Ensuring homes operate in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
- Supporting Registered Managers to maintain and continuously improve the quality of care provided to children and young people.
- Monitoring compliance, safeguarding, staffing, training and operational performance across the homes.
- Supporting homes in preparing for and responding to Ofsted inspections.
- Reviewing performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Supporting the development and implementation of action plans following inspections, audits or internal quality assurance.
- Ensuring safeguarding concerns are appropriately managed and escalated.
- Supporting the recruitment, development and retention of high-quality managers and staff.
- Promoting a positive culture focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
- Working collaboratively with senior management to support the continued development and growth of the organisation.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience of being registered as a Responsible Individual within children's residential care – essential.
- Level 5 or Level 7 qualification/NVQ relevant to leadership and management within residential childcare.
- Significant management experience within children's residential services.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted inspection framework.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and safer working practices.
- Experience supporting Registered Managers and driving service improvement.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to confidently challenge practice while providing effective support to managers.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Ability to travel regularly across the West Midlands to the homes you are responsible for.
