Gressingham Foods are seeking a full time (40 hours) Payroll and HR support to work within their HR Department to deliver our weekly company payrolls. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has an understanding and experience in payroll, HR or Finance and is looking to progress their knowledge and develop in a friendly and collaborative environment.
As our Payroll and HR support, you will be responsible for delivering a smooth and accurate payroll process across the business for our weekly paid employees. Working alongside our Company Payroll Manager, and with the support of the HR team, to ensure all payroll activities are completed efficiently, confidentially, and to the highest standards, ensuring all our employees are paid correctly and on time, going that extra mile and delivering high standards across Payroll and HR.
Additional Information:
Job Type: Full Time – 40 hours (5 days per week) Onsite
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Working hours will be 8.30 am to 17.00 pm, Monday to Friday. It is expected that additional hours may be required at busy times or during bank holidays throughout the year to help support payroll processes, and these will be advised to you by the Company Payroll Manager. Any additional hours will be a condition of your salary.
The successful applicant must be trustworthy, open and approachable. Able to work on their own initiative, while also able to work as part of a small team.

- Payroll, Finance or HR experience preferred
- Experience of time and attendance software and advantage
Payroll Duties will include:
- Processing weekly end to end payroll
- Processing any contract changes each pay period
- Manage statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP and SHPP
- Maintain accurate holiday records
- Liaise closely with the Company Payroll Manager, seeking support when required, to ensure accurate payroll recording.
- Importing hours from our time and attendance system
- Preparing and submitting pension data
- Responding promptly to employee payroll queries
- Prepare pension reports, issue letters to colleagues, and manage pay related queries
- Assist the Company Payroll Manager with any data where required
- Support audits for payroll and accounts department
HR Duties will include:
- Issuing contracts to new starters
- Setting up new starters on time and attendance and payroll systems
- Assisting with recruitment
- Completing amendments to contracts
- General HR note taking
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in either payroll, finance or HR
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Confidence working with payroll, time and attendance systems
- Microsoft Office experience
- A proactive, confidential, and service driven approach.
- CIPP, CIPD or ATT qualification
