Buttercup is a fast-growing dessert brand based in Manchester, best known for our signature banana puddings, rotating specials and social-first approach to desserts. What started as a small concept has quickly grown into one of Manchester’s most talked-about food brands, with exciting expansion plans already underway.
We are now looking for a highly organised, proactive and ambitious Store Manager to lead the day-to-day running of Buttercup during an exciting stage of growth.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to do more than simply manage shifts. We are looking for somebody who is excited by the opportunity to take ownership of operations, lead and develop a team, improve systems and grow alongside the business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the store, ensuring high standards across service, cleanliness, presentation and organisation.
- Lead and manage the front-of-house and production teams, including training, delegation, performance management and team development.
- Create and manage rotas across both store and kitchen operations.
- Act as the main point of contact for shift queries, sickness, absence, holidays and operational issues.
- Lead service during busy periods and ensure customers receive a warm, efficient and consistent Buttercup experience.
- Monitor sales, labour, stock, wastage and operational performance.
- Plan daily and weekly production requirements based on sales forecasts, stock levels, events and expected demand.
- Ensure production capacity is managed effectively and enough stock is produced without creating unnecessary waste.
- Manage ordering across ingredients, toppings, packaging, drinks, cleaning products and other store supplies.
- Maintain clear communication between the store and kitchen teams.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, allergen, temperature and compliance procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate records, including stock checks, waste logs, temperature logs and operational checklists.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and strengthen systems.
- Support product launches, promotions and wider business growth.
- Report directly to the Director on performance, staffing, operational issues and improvement opportunities.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a hospitality, food retail or restaurant management role.
- Strong team leadership and staff management experience.
- Experience managing rotas, labour, stock and day-to-day operations.
- Good commercial awareness, including understanding of sales, costs, waste and profitability.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence managing both front-of-house and kitchen teams.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management.
- Ability to work calmly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and a strong customer-service mindset.
- A proactive approach and enthusiasm for helping grow a developing brand.
Competitive salary dependent on experience.
