Overall Job Purpose:
As HGV Fitter, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the company fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles ensuring all vehicles are serviced, maintained and repaired in accordance with Operators Licence requirements. You will also prepare vehicles for annual tests, road test vehicles to certify roadworthiness
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Repair, maintain and service all HGV equipment along with other plant as required
- Ensure you work in compliance with Health and Safety policies
- Carry out routine, servicing and MOT preparation
- Carry out all repairs in a cost effective manner
- Completion of all documentation as required and ensure accurate records are kept
- Record and report damages and defects
- Ensure inspections are carried out in specified time periods

- Personal and team adherence to existing working practices, methods and procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems
- Proactive approach to Health Safety and Environment and to co-operate with the Company’s HSEQ Manager with relevant Health, Safety and Environment legislation, policies, and processes
Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Good knowledge and experience of HGV’s and associated accessories
- NVQ qualified preferred but not essential
- IRTEC certification essential
- Knowledge of Safe Loading Working Devices
- HGV Licence preferred but not essential
- Able to service, diagnose and repair various types of specialist equipment
Hours and Environment:
7:30am till 5pm. Minimum of 45 hrs per week.
Due to the nature of this role, employees are expected to be co-operative in working outside their normal hours as necessary to cope with varying situations and workloads.
