The Heritage Bakery is an artisan bakery based in Wantage, producing a range of high-quality breads, cakes and baked goods. We attend markets, pop-ups and events across Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, and we are looking for a friendly and reliable Market Stall Assistant to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible part-time work, including students or someone who enjoys working outdoors and meeting people.
The Role
Our regular market commitments include Summertown Market on Sundays, starting from Sunday 6 September, and North Parade Market every other Saturday, alongside a number of additional pop-ups and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up and taking down our market stall and equipment.
- Selling our range of artisan breads and baked goods in a busy outdoor environment.
- Providing friendly and enthusiastic customer service.
- Handling cash and accurately recording card transactions.
- Keeping the stall well stocked and looking attractive throughout the day.
- Representing The Heritage Bakery in a professional and friendly manner.
- Helping with loading and unloading products and equipment.
- Working independently and as part of a small team.
- Helping at additional markets, pop-ups and events when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Friendly, approachable and confident talking to customers.
- Strong communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Basic numeracy skills and confidence handling cash and transactions.
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility.
- Practical, hands-on and able to think on their feet.
- Organised and able to work in a busy environment.
- Flexible and willing to help at different events when available.
- Physically able to assist with some moderately heavy lifting and moving of market equipment.
- Passionate about providing great customer service.
Desirable
- Having your own car and a full driving licence would be an advantage but is not necessary.
- Ideally, we're looking for someone based in Oxford or the surrounding area, making it easy to get to Summertown and North Parade Market.
