Job Overview
Horrocks Waste Management are looking for a motivated and dependable Skip Driver operating an 18-tonne vehicle to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely navigating delivery routes, handling loads efficiently and safely, while ensuring timely deliveries, collections and exchanges to our valued customers. Your expertise in commercial driving and delivery operations will help keep our supply chain running smoothly, supporting our commitment to exceptional service and operational excellence.
Hours
- 7am - 4:30pm
- Monday - Friday
- Overtime available as required
Duties
- Safely operate an 18-tonne skip truck across designated delivery routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load, unload, and secure cargo with precision, ensuring the integrity of the load during transit
- Conduct daily defect reports and inspections of the vehicle to maintain optimal safety standards and report any issues promptly
- Communicate effectively with the transport team and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any logistical issues
- Maintain accurate records of jobs completed, delivery paperwork, tachograph records, and vehicle maintenance logs
- Assist with the collection and transport of waste or recyclable/recycled materials as required by the role
- Communicating with the yard staff when unloading waste and moving the vehicles around the facility
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial skip driving
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in transportation
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Experience with hook loading trucks is a bonus, with hours in this truck paid at a higher rate
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems and plan efficient routes under time constraints
- Good physical fitness for loading/unloading tasks and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Exceptional communication skills for communicating with team members and customers effectively

Requirements
- Valid UK drivers license
- Class 2 HGV license
- Clean drivers license
- Minimum 1 year experience of skip truck work
- Hook loader experience is a bonus (hours paid at higher rate)
