Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Team Leader/Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and accuracy. The successful candidate will manage a team, coordinate logistics activities, and optimise processes within a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including materials handling, shipping, and receiving operations.
- Lead and manage a team of warehouse operatives, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Oversee the utilisation of warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms to track inventory levels and order processing.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Organise forklift operations, including loading and unloading goods safely using appropriate mechanical knowledge.
- Implement process improvements to optimise workflow efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Coordinate logistics with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory movements, shipping schedules, and stock levels.
- Assist in shipping & receiving activities, ensuring proper handling of goods and adherence to company standards.
- Manage heavy lifting tasks safely, ensuring team members follow proper lifting techniques.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management or supervisory roles within a logistics or distribution environment.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Sound understanding of process optimisation and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and documentation accuracy.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks and standing for extended periods during shifts.
We are a friendly, family-run business based in Swinton, Manchester, with a dedicated team of around 10 employees across our warehouse and administration departments. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and maintaining a supportive, team-focused working environment.
You will also provide operational cover during the Warehouse Manager's annual leave and other periods of absence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, motivate and support the warehouse team to achieve daily targets.
Oversee pick and pack operations, ensuring orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
Manage goods in and goods out activities.
Maintain accurate stock control and inventory records.
Ensure all warehouse procedures and health and safety standards are followed.
Train and support warehouse staff to maintain high standards.
Cover warehouse operations during the Warehouse Manager's holidays and absence.
Work closely with the administration team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Attend occasional trade shows and exhibitions, which may require some weekend working.
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a Warehouse Team Leader or supervisory role is essential.
Strong knowledge of logistics and warehouse operations.
Experience with pick and pack operations.
Experience managing goods in and goods out processes.
Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions when managing daily operations.
A positive, reliable and hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
12-week trial period with the opportunity for a permanent position.
