Early Years Practitioner – Level 3 or Above
Full-Time | Salary: £27,500 – £29,250 per annum
Brand new nursery opening July 2026 - New London Road, Chelmsford
Buttercup Montessori Kindergarten are currently looking to recruit a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join our Brand New nursery setting in the heart of Chelmsford City Centre.
The successful applicant will be qualified level 3 or above, have a strong understanding of EYFS curriculum along with a genuine passion to work with children. They will also actively promote and support the safeguarding of children within the setting, ensuring nursery policies and procedures are observed at all times. Full training will be given in this area.

What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare (or above)
- A genuine passion for early years education
- A positive role model for children and colleagues
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum
- Previous experience is desirable but not essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment in line with the EYFS framework, where every child feels secure, valued, and inspired to explore and learn.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging, age-appropriate activities that support all areas of learning and development within the EYFS, with a focus on promoting children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth.
- Observe, assess and record children’s progress using formative and summative assessment tools, ensuring that each child’s learning journey is accurately documented and used to inform future planning.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with children, offering consistent emotional support and promoting their independence, confidence and positive behaviour through modelling and encouragement.
- Establish and maintain positive partnerships with parents and carers, sharing regular updates and working collaboratively to support each child’s individual needs and development.
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children at all times by following the nursery’s safeguarding policy and procedures, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of child protection protocols and legislation.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that the curriculum and environment reflect and celebrate the backgrounds, needs, and interests of all children.
- Maintain a clean, well-organised, and resource-rich environment, ensuring all equipment is safe, accessible, and supports learning across the seven areas of the EYFS.
- Work collaboratively with team members, contributing to a positive and professional workplace culture, participating in regular meetings, and supporting colleagues as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, attending training and staying up to date with changes to early years legislation, the EYFS framework, and best practice guidance.
