Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. As a key member of our kitchen management, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and team performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression within a vibrant hospitality environment. Our opening days are Tuesday to Saturday however we will be opening Monday evenings in the busy seasonal period. Sundays closed.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing diverse menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency, presentation, and adherence to recipes and portion sizes
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage practices
- Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management to minimise waste and control costs
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner while maintaining high culinary standards
- Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Extensive food production and culinary expertise with a strong focus on quality and presentation
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience demonstrating versatility across various roles such as serving or front-of-house support
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during peak hours
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management
