We’re currently looking for an assistant accountant to be a supportive force who empowers our finance department with day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone with basic accounting knowledge looking to grow within a professional finance environment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with purchase and sales ledger processing
- Managing invoices, payments, and expense claims
- Bank reconciliations and petty cash handling
- Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns (HMRC compliance)
- Supporting month-end and year-end accounts
- Liaising with suppliers and clients regarding financial queries
- Performing accurate data entry of financial transactions
- Supporting the Finance Manager and wider team with ad hoc duties
Skills
· GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
· Basic understanding of UK accounting principles
· Familiarity with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
· Excellent attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong time-management skills and an ability to organise and coordinate multiple tasks
· Proficiency with office productivity tools and an aptitude for learning new software and systems
· Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to the company and its employees
· Recognise problems and formulate solutions
· Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
· Good awareness of person-centred approaches- ability to work in partnership with colleagues, support services, families and other stake holders.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
