About the Role
As a Personal Care Assistant at Barnhaven, you will provide personalised, high‑quality care to residents with a range of needs, including dementia, mobility challenges, and end‑of‑life support. You’ll work as part of a supportive team who value kindness, professionalism, and a calm, reassuring approach.
Your role will be central to helping residents live comfortably, safely, and with dignity.
Key Duties
- Support residents with daily living tasks including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Administer medication in line with care plans and competency training.
- Prepare nutritious meals that reflect individual dietary needs and preferences.
- Carry out light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Monitor and document residents’ health, behaviour, and progress as part of ongoing care planning.
- Implement behaviour support strategies to promote safety and emotional well‑being.
- Provide specialised dementia care, including meaningful engagement and safety supervision.
- Assist residents with transport to medical appointments; driving may be required.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver personalised care plans.
- Offer compassionate end‑of‑life or hospice support, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medication following prescribed care plans and medical instructions
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and preferences
- Support clients with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Monitor and document clients’ health status, behaviour, and progress as part of case management
- Implement behaviour management strategies to ensure safety and well-being
- Provide specialised care for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia, including engagement activities and safety supervision
- Support clients with medical appointments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop personalised care plans Assist with end-of-life or hospice care as needed, ensuring comfort and dignity Skills
