Steel & Glass Solutions is a growing bespoke architectural metalwork company based in Dunstable. We manufacture high-quality bespoke metalwork for prestigious commercial and residential projects, and we are looking for an experienced Metal Polisher to join our workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and wants to be part of a skilled team producing high-quality architectural metalwork.
The Role
As a Metal Polisher, you will be responsible for preparing and finishing stainless steel and other metal components to a high standard, ready for installation or final inspection.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Grinding and dressing welds to a high-quality finish.
· Polishing stainless steel components and fabrications.
· Working through different abrasive and polishing grades to achieve the required finish.
· Using orbital sanders, grinders, linishing machines, pipe belt sanders and other finishing equipment.
· Preparing surfaces for different finishes, including brushed and polished finishes.
· Achieving consistent finishes across bespoke architectural components.
· Removing scratches, weld marks and surface imperfections.
· Working to drawings, specifications and job requirements.
· Carrying out your own quality checks and ensuring work meets our high standards.
· Working safely and maintaining a clean and organised work area.
· Working closely with fabricators and other members of the workshop team.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you will have experience in metal polishing, stainless steel finishing or architectural metalwork.
We are particularly interested in someone who:
· Has previous experience as a metal polisher or metal finisher.
· Understands different abrasive belts, discs and polishing compounds.
· Can produce a consistent, high-quality finish.
· Has experience grinding and dressing stainless steel welds.
· Has excellent attention to detail.
· Takes pride in producing quality work.
· Can work independently while also being a strong team player.
· Is reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
· Understands the importance of health and safety in a busy workshop.
Experience in architectural metalwork would be highly advantageous.
