St Nicholas Court Farms is a third-generation family-owned business that farms more than 3,500ha. The business has a strong interest in renewable energy - we own and run two on-farm AD plants with a separate AD Team and have multiple solar installations.
Our cropping is a mix of energy crops (maize, wholecrop rye/triticale and grass silage ) to support our AD plants, as well as combinable crops (milling wheat, OSR, spring oats, and peas). We are also involved in several different Stewardship Schemes across the business, including SFI agreements with cover cropping and companion crop options. The farm employs 9 full-time arable operators with extra casual operators employed over busy periods. We farm predominantly out of one farm base but cover a 15-mile radius, so a large amount of road work is involved in the transport of crops from field to clamp. All grain from all our contract-farmed businesses is stored centrally in modern grain storage. We run a modern fleet of predominantly Case IH machinery, including Quadtracs, two Optum’s and a sizable number of Puma CVX’s tractors. There is a strong focus on safety in everything we do. All machinery has basic daily checks carried out and recorded by the operators using an online app, ensuring all kit is fit for purpose before it leaves the yard.
