We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to support the registration and launch of our first children's residential care home. Ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance are maintained.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the service, preparing policies and procedures, assisting with the Ofsted registration process, and establishing a high-quality, child-centred home from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new service and contribute to its long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the registration process with Ofsted for a new children’s home.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Quality Standards
- SCCIF inspection framework
- Safeguarding legislation and policies.
- Develop and maintain the home’s Statement of Purpose and care plans.
- Recruit, supervise, and develop residential care staff.
- Create a positive, child-centred culture focused on outcomes and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are robust and effective.
- Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and operational performance.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals.
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all regulatory notifications are completed.
- Promote therapeutic and trauma-informed practice within the home.
Requirements
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years in a children’s residential setting.
- At least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
- Safeguarding procedures
- Ofsted inspection framework.
- Experience preparing for Ofsted registration and inspections.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience opening a new children’s home.
- Therapeutic or trauma-informed care background.
- Experience supporting children with EBD/SEMH needs.
