The Role
As Yard Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the yard, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently and professionally. You will oversee stock control, goods in and out, order picking, vehicle loading, yard organisation and health & safety compliance while supporting customers, suppliers and colleagues.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities
Yard Operations & Leadership
- Lead the daily running of the yard and warehouse areas
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Ensure all health & safety procedures are followed
- Supervise forklift operations and ensure equipment is used correctly
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages
- Record and report breakages, damages and operational issues
- Support and guide yard staff, escalating concerns where necessary
Customer Service
- Deliver a professional and welcoming experience to customers and suppliers
- Ensure collections and deliveries are handled efficiently and accurately
- Assist customers with loading and product enquiries where required
Stock & Logistics
- Oversee goods received, storage and stock rotation
- Ensure orders are picked, checked, wrapped and prepared accurately
- Coordinate loading and unloading activities
- Maintain accurate stock movement records
- Support daily stock checks and inventory management

What We’re Looking For
Essential
✔ Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence
✔ Strong organisational and communication skills
✔ Ability to lead by example and motivate others
✔ Good attention to detail and accuracy
✔ Computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems
✔ Commitment to health, safety and customer service standards
Desirable
✔ Experience within roofing, construction, builders’ merchants or related industries
✔ Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
✔ Knowledge of stock control and warehouse operations
Roofing industry experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
