Overview: Part-time seasonal position, running a popular ‘homely’ tearoom during Lukesland Gardens open seasons in the Spring and Autumn. The tearoom opens on Sundays, Wednesday and Bank Holidays from 11am to 5pm from mid-March to early June in the Spring, and from early October to mid-November in the Autumn. Occasional catering is required on other days for group tours, conferences etc. The tearoom has a cooker, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, hot water dispenser, filter coffee maker, dishwasher and large preparation areas.
A spacious one-bedroom flat, suitable for a single person or a couple, is available as part of the job, if required (no pets allowed). This adjoins the tearoom and offers an additional kitchen with an electric Everhot cooker and further facilities for food preparation. If the accommodation option is taken up, occasional house-sitting and cooking will be required outside the garden opening seasons.
Duties:
Serve in the tearoom on open days
Shop for and prepare vegetable soup and simple home baking for the tearoom openings
Order in cakes as required
Manage freezing of surplus
Keep essential supplies for the tearoom stocked up e.g. coffee, tea, napkins etc
Manage staff rotas for the season
Oversee training of new staff
Manage tearoom cleaning and hygiene – essential checks at the start and close of each opening
Manage recycling and rubbish disposal
Check tearoom machines and report any problems
Qualifications:
Good home cooking skills
Good organisational skills
Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering (or readiness to take this online qualification)
Good people skills for interaction with staff and customers
Salary:
The amount depends on whether the accommodation option is taken up or not
