Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working within care home environments, including Dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role involves planning, organising, and facilitating a variety of recreational activities designed to enhance residents' quality of life, promote social interaction, and support their emotional well-being. The Activities Co-ordinator will play a vital role in creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere where residents feel valued and engaged.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents, including those with Dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Organise group events, individual activities, and sensory programmes that promote cognitive function and socialisation.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ preferences and capabilities, ensuring activities are appropriate and inclusive.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of programmes.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages participation and supports residents’ emotional health.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote understanding of activity programmes and their benefits.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior care, dementia support, and activity planning to continually improve service delivery.
Experience
- Prior experience working within assisted living or care home environments is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving background with excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively.
- Knowledge of activity planning tailored for older adults with cognitive impairments is preferred.
- Compassionate approach with the ability to motivate and inspire residents to participate in activities.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple programmes simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
