Cadenham Farms, a family owned, 150 hectare permanent pasture farm in North Wiltshire needs an enthusiastic and reliable stockperson and farm worker who may like the opportunity to become the farm manager.
The central elements of the role are:-
- Stock management, including breeding and producing healthy stores and finishers
- Making hay and silage and improving the pastures regeneratively
- Assisting with improvements to fencing, drainage, hedges, trees and buildings
- Selling beef wholesale and direct via boxes
- Data collection for performance measurement, certification and accounts
- Planning and budgeting for a profitable farm year on year.
Proven experience with livestock is required, but there is an opportunity to learn. The position has arisen due to the retirement of a long-standing, full-time farm worker at the end of September. An experienced local farmer is temporarily managing the farm for approximately 10 hours a week. He is willing to train and mentor a less experienced person who has the potential to become the farm manager long term. New business ideas are encouraged. The role could be part-time depending on the other commitments of the applicant.
The farm is organic and certified with Pasture for Life.
