Duties
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to identify issues before they escalate.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment, fixtures, and building infrastructure using skills in welding, electrical work, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose problems accurately and efficiently.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot automated systems and ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to ensure compliance and facilitate future planning.
- Supervise junior maintenance staff or contractors when necessary, providing guidance and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Respond promptly to urgent repair requests from staff or residents to minimize disruptions and maintain safety standards.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including proper use of tools and protective equipment.
Skills
- Strong electrical experience with the ability to troubleshoot wiring issues and operate electrical systems safely.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing HVAC systems, plumbing, welding techniques, and general building maintenance.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, and PLC programming for automated systems.
- Proven maintenance experience in a care home or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent supervisory skills with leadership experience to guide team members effectively.
- Exceptional customer service skills to communicate clearly with residents, staff, and contractors.
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently while managing multiple repair requests simultaneously.
