Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Site Supervisor to oversee the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of one of our recycling facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising site activities, leading and motivating operational teams, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and ensuring materials are processed efficiently and in line with company procedures.
The Site Supervisor will work closely with the Site Manager to drive operational performance, promote a positive safety culture, and ensure the site consistently meets quality, productivity, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Brown Recycling operates across four recycling sites (all in walking distance), and the successful candidate will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the operations, processes and responsibilities at each site. Flexibility will be required to provide operational support across all four sites as business needs dictate.
- Supervise the daily operation of the site to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures.
- Lead, motivate and support site operatives, promoting high standards of performance, attendance and behaviour.
- Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout the site.
- Monitor stock levels of recyclable materials and arrange internal or external movements where required to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ensure recyclable materials are processed correctly and free from contamination before dispatch.
- Identify, segregate and report non-conforming materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all employees work safely and comply with company Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work and environmental requirements.
- Carry out regular site inspections and report or rectify any hazards identified.
- Ensure plant, machinery and equipment are operated safely and any defects are reported promptly.
- Assist in accident, incident and near miss investigations, ensuring appropriate reporting and corrective actions are completed.
- Support the Site Manager in achieving operational, quality and productivity targets.
- Monitor staff performance, identify training requirements and support the development of team members.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Provide operational cover where required, including supporting different areas of the site when necessary.
- Promote a positive working culture focused on teamwork, safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous supervisory experience within a waste management, recycling, manufacturing, logistics or similar operational environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
- Competent IT skills and experience completing operational reports and records.
Working Hours
Working hours will vary depending on the operational requirements of the site and shift pattern assigned. We are currently looking for noon shift availability, working 2:00pm to 12:00am, Flexibility may be required to meet business needs, including providing additional support where necessary.

Pay: £16.30 per hour
