The Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) educator fixed term post will provide education leadership across the network, acting as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge.
The post holder will be closely supported by the PCC ODN lead nurse and CYP Strategic Network lead educators To support the planning and development of the ongoing PCC Level 2 education programme. To continue to support the PCC Education leads within the tertiary centres in the provision of the PCC Level 2 module.
The post holder will implement changes in areas of clinical practice that have been identified by the PCC ODN Team and based on National, Regional and Local standards and research and in line with best practice guidance.
To prepare & present high quality complex reports to a range of audiences including senior clinicians & senior managers both locally & nationally. To prepare project proposals and reports for the TVW ODN/NHSE and develop performance targets and measures. To act as a clinical role model for nurses and other staff.
The post holder will lead, develop, & co-ordinate a cross-Network approach to the provision of PCC Level 2 education. The post holder will need to negotiate with the network management team, Directors of Nursing, Heads of Education, Senior Nurses & Practice Development Nurses/Nurse Educators & have the ability to gain their co-operation to ensure the delivery and implementation of any PCC level 2 projects.
- Reflect drivers for ongoing National and Network multi-professional education & working.
- Oversight of formal and informal PCC education programmes that are developed & implemented within the Network for all levels of the registered & non-registered nursing & AHP workforce reflective of the principles of the RCN career framework for registered & non-registered nurses & NHS England Specification requirements.
- The post holder will need the capacity to travel distances across Thames Valley & Wessex & beyond .
- Prepare project proposals and reports for the TV&W ODN and develop performance targets and measures.
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of clinical paediatric education, to inform the wider CYP ODN education strategy.
- Participate in other sub-groups within the CYP Strategic Network.

The post holder will utilise their education, project management or quality improvement leadership skills to deliver on the following key areas, plus provide flexibility to support/lead on areas that may arise over the fixed term.
. Delivery of the PCC education event programme.
2. Review of the current ODN morbidity and mortality model.
3. Implementation of a PCC level 2 skills programme for PCC level 1 centres.
4. Support the continued delivery of LTV education for DGHs.
