SALES TEAM MANAGER
The Fuel Store (TFS) is a progressive, Birmingham based business using technology to develop its market and stay ahead of the competition. It is on a mission to revolutionise the way business is conducted in its chosen business segments. The business is a leading provider of fuel and associated products into the transportation sector, providing a range of products and solutions to its customers to increase profits through increasing share of wallet, customer loyalty and usage; serving customers more efficiently and cost-effectively. It currently facilitates the provision of and processes the transactions to allow 65 million litres of Fuel per annum through its card processes.
The business was started 10 years ago and to date has grown organically. Future development will be a combination of organic and inorganic growth offering its customers a carefully thought-out package of products with software that enables easy/dynamic/cost optimised fleet management at its core.
The business is very efficient and proudly operates with circa 50 colleagues whilst delivering over £80m of turnover. It means that the senior management team need to be able to operate at both the strategic and operational level often in the same meeting. The ability to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and deliver your own solutions is a hugely important asset to us.
As a Sales Team Manager at The Fuel Store, you will be responsible for leading a team of Sales Consultants to consistently deliver high-performance new business outcomes. You will drive activity, conversion, and revenue through structured management, hands-on coaching, and a relentless focus on standards.
This is a front-line leadership role where success comes from your ability to translate business targets into daily execution. You will create a high-performance environment through call coaching, data-led performance management, and clear accountability, while building a motivated, resilient, and capable sales team. You will sit at the critical intersection between business expectations and team delivery, ensuring standards are upheld while enabling your team to succeed through coaching, support, and development.

Basic Salary: Competitive based on experience
Bonus: 20% of base salary
Location: Birmingham, (4 days per week expected in the office)
Reports to: Head of Sales & CM
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of Sales Consultants to achieve and exceed new business targets.
- Drive daily, weekly, and monthly activity levels (calls, conversations, pipeline) to deliver consistent sales performance.
- Translate business targets into clear team KPIs and individual expectations.
- Conduct regular call listening, coaching sessions, and side-by-sides to improve quality, conversion, and compliance.
- Build structured development plans for all team members, focusing on capability, progression, and performance improvement.
- Proactively manage underperformance through clear feedback, action plans, and accountability.
- Maintain a high standard of sales quality, ensuring adherence to processes, compliance, and customer experience expectations.
- Use CRM and performance data to monitor pipeline, conversion rates, and individual productivity.
- Create a high-energy, competitive team culture that drives results while maintaining professionalism.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, RevOps, and ECM to optimise lead flow, conversion, and onboarding.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new Sales Consultants.
- Ensure strong pipeline management discipline across the team.
- Act as a role model in standards, attitude, and execution.
Requirements:
To have the ability to contribute to The Fuel Store’s success, you will need the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Proven experience in a sales leadership or team leader role within a high-volume, KPI-driven environment.
- Strong track record of delivering and exceeding sales targets through team performance.
- Deep understanding of outbound sales, pipeline management, and conversion metrics.
- Demonstrable experience in coaching, call listening, and improving sales capability.
- Strong ability to manage performance, both motivating high performers and addressing underperformance.
- High levels of organisation, structure, and attention to detail.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to align team activity to business outcomes.
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Dynamics 365) and performance reporting to drive decisions.
- Resilience, pace, and intensity suited to a fast-moving sales environment.
- Strong communication and leadership presence.
