What you'll be doing
As Commercial Manager within the In House Construction Team, you'll be responsible for managing high-value contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring commercial arrangements deliver maximum benefit while minimising risk.
Working closely with colleagues across Service Delivery and Home Investment, you'll develop and implement commercial strategies that improve performance, strengthen supplier relationships and deliver value for money.
You'll lead supplier performance management activity, using data and insight to identify opportunities, manage risk and drive continuous improvement. You'll also play a key role in contract renewals, commercial negotiations and shaping best practice across our supplier and contract management framework.
Alongside this, you'll provide leadership and support to colleagues within the In House Construction Commercial Team, helping to build capability, drive performance and deliver against key business objectives.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a commercially astute professional who combines strategic thinking with strong relationship management skills and a passion for delivering results.
Whether you've gained your experience as a Commercial Manager, Senior Surveyor or in a similar commercial leadership role, you'll be confident managing suppliers, contracts and stakeholders while delivering measurable business outcomes.
You will have:
- Experience in a similar Commercial Manager role within Construction, or at the level of Senior Surveyor.
- A strong background in national housebuilding, with knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC and Health and Safety requirements.
- Experience of effectively managing multiple schemes, suppliers and high-value contracts.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- An understanding of housing repairs and planned maintenance.
- An articulate and confident approach to engaging and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of leading and managing a team.
- The ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
- A desire to progress your career within one of the UK's leading housing organisations.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience within housing repairs, maintenance or planned investment services.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management.
- A degree or equivalent professional experience.
- CIPS Level 4 qualification or a commitment towards professional procurement qualifications.
