A detail-oriented CCTV Control Room Operator monitors live video feeds, records and retrieves footage, and coordinates security responses to incidents. The role requires quick, calm decision-making, excellent communication, and strict adherence to privacy and security policies.
This position operates from 2030 – 0830 on a three-on-three off basis.
- Monitor multiple CCTV feeds in real time using the organization's Video Management System (VMS) and related surveillance equipment.
- Detect suspicious or abnormal activity and initiate appropriate responses (alert security staff, contact authorities if needed, issue alarms).
- Record, preserve, and retrieve video footage; maintain chain of custody and accurate incident logs.
- Coordinate with on-site security personnel, facility managers, and emergency responders during incidents and drills.
- Enforce access control procedures and monitor alarm panels; respond to triggers and verify events.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, supervisors, and external agencies during high-pressure situations.
- Perform routine system checks, troubleshoot basic technical issues, and report faults to the IT/security teams.
- Maintain accurate incident reports, times, locations, actions taken, and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with privacy laws, data retention policies, and internal SOPs; protect sensitive information.
- Support training and onboarding of new operators; share best practices and SOP updates.
- Participate in regular drills and post-incident reviews to improve security posture.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (some roles require postsecondary coursework in security, criminal justice, or related fields).
- Experience: 1–3 years in security monitoring, control room operations, or related emergency response roles.
