Job Overview
We are seeking reliable and professional Delivery Drivers to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely to various locations. This role requires excellent driving skills, strong organisational abilities, and outstanding communication skills. Candidates should be committed to providing exceptional service while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Deliveries based in Newbury and operating hours are 2.45am to 6.35am. The mileage from depot to the last job is 71 miles. As newspapers are being delivered, this will require multiple drops.
We are looking for 2 drivers as we deliver 7 days a week. Weekend end cover will alternate each week.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, car or small van is sufficient
- Plan efficient routes to optimise delivery times and minimise fuel consumption.
- Load and unload items, often requiring heavy lifting, with care to prevent damage or injury.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during routes.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including documentation of any discrepancies or damages.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are met and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations during transit.
- Assist in warehouse activities when required, including organising stock and preparing goods for dispatch.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving.
- Valid driver’s licence suitable for the vehicle type (e.g., car licence, HGV licence).
- Experience with commercial driving and knowledge of traffic laws and safety standards.
- Previous warehouse experience is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Organised with the ability to plan routes effectively under time constraints.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Must have own vehicle, employers liability insurance and Hire and Reward insurance.

Pay: £16.00-£16.74 per hour
