We're looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Team Leader to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, strengthen financial controls and play a vital role in ensuring the effective management of the organisation's income.

About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of the Accounts Receivable function, ensuring all organisational income is collected, allocated and reported accurately and efficiently.
You'll oversee income from housing rents, Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and trade debtors, ensuring strong financial controls, effective credit control and excellent customer service. Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Housing and operational teams, you'll help maximise cash collection while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the Accounts Receivable team and supporting the development of Finance Officers and Finance Assistants.
- Managing end-to-end accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, income allocation, reconciliations and month-end activities.
- Overseeing credit control and aged debt, helping maximise cash collection and minimise outstanding balances.
- Managing housing income, including rent, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit receipts.
- Completing and reviewing bank reconciliations and ensuring all income is accurately allocated.
- Maintaining strong financial controls, audit trails and compliance with organisational policies and financial regulations.
- Supporting internal and external audits and resolving financial discrepancies.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting.
- Building strong working relationships across Finance and the wider organisation, providing responsive and professional financial support.
You’ll be someone who has:
- An AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent finance experience.
- Significant Accounts Receivable experience, ideally within a Housing Association, Local Authority or similarly complex organisation.
- Experience leading or supervising a finance team.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, journals, income management and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with a passion for improving processes and delivering excellent customer service.
Experience within the charity or housing sector and knowledge of Charity or Housing SORP would be advantageous but is not essential.
