Job Overview
We are recruiting for compassionate and caring individuals to cover the day shift and also the night shift for our Personal Care Assistant post. The role is supporting our client who has sustained a spinal cord injury.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire for helping others and will possess experience in a caring and supportive environment.
Our client is moving into his new property soon and he will need support with this transition and settling into his new home in Bishop Auckland. He has 3 small and very friendly dogs and therefore applicants must be happy and comfortable working around animals.
A full clean driving licence with a minimum of three years driving experience is a pre requisite for all applying.
This role is subject to a an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate(DBS)
Duties include:
- Implement care plans and report any changes in the client's condition
- Complete daily shift notes
- Support client with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Support client with mobility around the home or outside
-Support client in social and recreational activities
-Support with looking after his dogs and fish tanks at home
-Drive client to appointments and other venues as required using client's wheelchair accessible vehicle
- Help with meal preparation
- Perform light housekeeping tasks
- Communicate effectively with client, families, care team and healthcare professionals
-Liaise with Case Manager and report any concerns
Essential Requirements
- Full clean driving licence
- Stable work history with a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role
- Proficient in English and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards others
Desirable Requirements
-Experience in working with Spinal Cord Injury
-Experience driving a wheelchair adapted vehicle
Job Types: Full and Part-time contracts available to cover daytime and night shift hours including weekend
