Trainee Dental Nurse
Location: Newton Abbot Dental, Newton Abbot
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Some weekend availability
Salary: £13.10 per hour
Contract: Full time, permanent
Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Trainee Dental Nurse to join our vibrant and forward-thinking team! This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a fun and supportive practice where patient care is at the heart of everything we do.
As a Trainee Dental Nurse, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical support while helping to create a smooth and efficient workflow throughout the practice. You’ll be an essential part of ensuring our patients have a positive and comfortable experience from start to finish. No previous dental nursing experience is required, as full training, mentoring and support will be provided. The successful applicant will be enrolled on an approved Dental Nurse training course leading to a qualification recognised by the General Dental Council. The practice will cover the cost of the course, examinations and required Hepatitis B vaccinations.

Duties
- Assist the dentist/hygienist during various procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
- Provide chairside support to patients, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have during treatment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information as required, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Cleaning, decontaminating and sterilising instruments in line with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing information about treatments, aftercare, and oral hygiene practices.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient appointment scheduling.
- Support administrative tasks as needed, including managing patient enquiries and assisting with billing processes.
- Completing the coursework, assessments and practical training required for your qualification.

- Proficient in English with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- IT skills to manage patient records and utilise software effectively.
- A genuine commitment to patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism at all times.
- Willing to use their initiative appropriately.
- Reliable, punctual and hard-working.
- Keen to learn and committed to completing their dental nursing qualification.
