About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated CASE Accredited Vascular Sonographer to join our diagnostic imaging team. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing and reporting a comprehensive range of non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations, delivering high-quality diagnostic services and contributing to excellent patient care.
This role requires a sonographer with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously within established clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and independently report a wide range of vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Conduct assessments including:
- Carotid Duplex Ultrasound
- Peripheral Arterial Duplex Studies
- Peripheral Venous Duplex Studies
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) investigations
- Venous Insufficiency/Reflux Studies
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) surveillance
- Renal Artery Duplex Ultrasound
- Dialysis Access/Fistula Assessments
- Produce accurate and comprehensive diagnostic reports.
- Maintain high professional and clinical standards in accordance with departmental and national guidelines.
- Communicate findings effectively to referring clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure patient safety, dignity and comfort throughout all examinations.
- Participate in quality assurance, audit, CPD and service development activities.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and report any operational issues as required.
- Adhere to all relevant governance, infection prevention and safeguarding procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Registration with RCCP, HCPC, SVT or other relevant professional body.
- CASE Accreditation in Vascular Ultrasound (or equivalent recognised vascular accreditation).
- Degree or Postgraduate Qualification in Medical Ultrasound, Clinical Vascular Science, Healthcare Science, Radiography or related discipline.
- Significant experience performing and reporting vascular ultrasound examinations independently.
- Demonstrable knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology and pathology.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload efficiently and accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within NHS diagnostic services.
- Experience in teaching, mentoring or supervising junior staff/students.
- Knowledge of current vascular ultrasound guidelines and best practice standards
Pay: £500.00 per day
