Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and detail-oriented Weaving and Warping Supervisor to build and lead our new textile production team. In this role, you will oversee the weaving and warping processes, ensuring high-quality fabric production while maintaining safety and efficiency standards. Production Delivery
- Allocate work daily across looms, warpers and people against the production plan.
- Own machine utilisation and output; identify and remove the constraints causing lost time.
- Own changeover performance - sequencing, preparation and target times.
- Manage work in progress, beam availability and yarn readiness so looms are not waiting.
- Flag capacity, material or resource risks to the Production Manager early with an option, not just a problem.
Technical Authority
- Maintain the loom setting standard for each product type.
- Diagnose complex or recurring machine and fabric faults and drive them to the root cause.
- Decide the boundary between technician adjustment, supervisor intervention and Engineering involvement.
- Support new product introduction, trial warps and sampling with Design and Engineering.
- Own consumables and critical spares levels for the area (reeds, heddles, needles, shuttles) and raise requisitions.
Quality
- Approve first-off work and authorise production to run.
- Ensure specifications, SOPs and records are current and being followed; update where practice has moved on.
People
- Deliver and sign off training and competency; maintain training records for the area.
- Build technical depth in the team and capture knowledge in appropriate learning materials
Health & Safety
- Ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work for the area are current, understood and followed.
- Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Report, investigate and close out incidents and near misses.
- Monitor guarding, isolation, noise exposure and manual handling practice; stop work where it is unsafe.
- Supervise contractors working in the area.
Reporting & Improvement
- Report output, efficiency, downtime, waste and quality performance to the Production Manager.
- Lead continuous improvement in the area - setup times, waste, quality, layout
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrate ability to learn and understand technical processes quickly and adapt, working well under pressure and managing change.
- Ability to lead and develop a team.
- Confident interpreting technical specifications and production data.
- Practical H&S knowledge
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
