Downing College is seeking a highly organised, proactive and approachable Tutorial and Admissions Administrative Officer to join its Tutorial and Admissions Office.
This varied role provides comprehensive administrative support across undergraduate and postgraduate admissions, student records and student services. Working closely with students, Fellows and professional staff, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the College's academic administration and contribute to an excellent student experience.
Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting undergraduate and postgraduate admissions processes.

Maintaining student records and administering student-related data using systems such as CamSIS and CamCORS.

Managing student administration including visa monitoring, HESA returns and committee applications.

Acting as a welcoming first point of contact for students.

Supporting Freshers' events, examinations, scholarships, awards and graduation ceremonies.

Assisting with academic recruitment and providing administrative support to Tutors, Directors of Studies and the Welfare Team.

Preparing reports, statistics and management information to support College committees and decision-making.

Supporting student communications, newsletters and website content.

Contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the Tutorial and Admissions Office.
To be considered for this role, you will need to:

Be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience.

Have excellent numeracy and IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Be friendly and approachable.

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, discretion and an understanding of how to deal with academics and students.

Have the ability to work independently and in a small team.

Be flexible in your approach to work and tasks.

Have good organisational skills and be capable of meeting pre-determined deadlines.
Experience in a higher education environment, working with complex databases, or knowledge of the Cambridge collegiate system would be advantageous.

Details of the role
The postholder will be expected to work 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch break. There is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times. There may be a need to work additional hours or on occasional weekends.
The annual salary is £36,284 per annum for 36.25 hours per week (Step 45 on the College Salary Scale).

With regard to holidays, candidates should note that it is normal practice for these to be taken outside of Full Term when possible.
