Smartkem, Inc. is creating a small, independent UK-based scientific team to explore new business opportunities. The new group will look for opportunities with commercial and academic organisations within the electronic materials domain. It is essential that all team members work flexibly to adapt to the changing needs of the new business and take a collaborative approach with colleagues and clients. Team members are expected to take part in business development activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Materials & Process Development team in the UK.
- Provide technical oversight to technical specialists in their provision of services to clients.
- Act as the lead technical representative of Smartkem Inc.
- Interfacing with clients and overseeing all commercial programmes.
- Reporting status of programmes with Smartkem Inc leadership.
- Supporting technology transfer, licensing initiatives for current and recently transferred IP.
- Facility management and negotiating terms with landlord (with Smartkem leadership approval).
- Leading business development activities to secure business for Smartkem.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- High level knowledge of chemistry & formulation of organic semiconductor & related materials.
- Knowledge of regulations for handling and shipping materials.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes applicable to organic semiconductors and related materials.
- Costing and procurement of technical equipment and specialist materials.
- Experience of chemical and physical test methods, specifically those relating to formulation and surface coatings.
- Experience of device test and data analysis.
- Good knowledge of semiconductor or display related fabrication processes.
- Health, Safety & Environment/COSHH - a good understanding of HSE issues relating to chemicals that team will be exposed to as part of daily laboratory work.

EXPERIENCE
- Experience of leading scientific / technical teams.
- Acknowledged expertise (as a global authority in materials) working with senior level clients.
- Facilities management, including health & safety oversight.
Pay: £49,069.21-£142,720.62 per year
