We are a leading provider of commercial structures, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of heavy-duty steel buildings, architectural canopies, and commercial polytunnels. We deliver high-quality, weather-resistant solutions for the agricultural, commercial, and retail sectors. We are now seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our dynamic team.
The Role In this role, you will lead the technical design of our canopy and polytunnel ranges. You will create precise fabrication models and installation drawings, working closely with our manufacturing workshop and site teams to translate concepts into durable, buildable structures
.Key Responsibilities
- Canopy Design: Produce detailed 2D layouts and 3D models for steel-framed architectural canopies, walkways, and shelters.
- Polytunnel Detailing: Design commercial polytunnels, including hoop configurations, structural bracing, door frames, and ventilation systems. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Fabrication Drawings: Generate accurate structural steel fabrication drawings, component details, and material take-offs (BOMs).
- Material Integration: Factor in cladding, polycarbonate sheeting, and heavy-duty polythene tensioning requirements into technical designs.
- Revisions: Amend existing drawings based on client feedback, engineering calculations, and workshop requirements.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- Proven Experience: CAD experience within structural steel, architectural metalwork, or commercial greenhouse/polytunnel design.
- Canopy & Polytunnel Expertise: Specific, hands-on experience designing canopies or tubular/structural steel polytunnel framing systems.
- Steel Structures: Strong working knowledge of structural steelwork detailing, connections, and jointing systems.
- Loading Knowledge: A solid understanding of wind and snow load considerations for fabric and sheeting structures is highly desirable.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Advance Steel, SolidWorks, or Tekla (please specify your expertise).
Pay: £28,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
