Kickstart your hospital Pharmacy career with our rotational band 6 to 7 progression programme. This is designed for newly qualified GPHC registrants to gain hands on clinical experience acrossmental health and community hospitals whilst progressing through a structured development pathway.
The post will initially be based at St Ann's but providing clinical service to other hospital sites will follow on experience.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

To be part of the Dorset HealthCare Medicines Team (DHMT) providing clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation support to patients in the inpatient and patient home setting.
Provide clinical pharmacy support to community and mental health inpatient beds within Dorset HealthCare working closely with the clinicians covering these beds.
Using pharmaceutical expertise, to clinically review all prescription charts following admission of patients to the post-holder’s allocated wards/units, ensuring patients are prescribed safe and effective medication. This includes monitoring all prescription charts (paper and electronic) to ensure safe, legal and evidence based prescribing takes place – and safe accurate administration – including clinical screening for drug interactions, overdoses or inappropriate prescribing e.g. renal, liver, cardiac impaired or pregnant patients.
To support the pharmacy technicians and ward/unit staff to ensure that adequate ward/unit pharmacy stock levels are maintained on allocated wards and to regularly review and adjust levels if necessary depending on prescribing trends.
To compile a drug history where possible from patients admitted to Trust services to ensure continuity of their medication and records relevant information in order to facilitate the discharge process
