About the Role
Quality inspection sits at the point where production standards become measurable results. Components need to meet specification, defects need to be identified quickly, and accurate inspection records help prevent the same problems from reaching later stages of production.
As a Quality Inspector, you will inspect incoming materials, manufactured components, and finished products to confirm they meet required dimensional, visual, and technical standards. You will work closely with production and engineering teams, documenting findings and helping investigate anything that falls outside specification.
The work combines hands-on inspection with structured documentation. During a typical shift, you may inspect a batch of incoming parts, take dimensional measurements, record results in the quality system, isolate a non-conforming component, and later assist with tracing the source of a repeated defect.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming materials, components, and finished products against defined specifications.
- Carry out visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Record inspection results accurately within quality systems and control documentation.
- Identify products or components that do not meet required standards.
- Raise non-conformance reports and ensure affected materials are correctly identified and segregated.
- Support containment activities when production quality issues are discovered.
- Work with production teams to investigate recurring defects and manufacturing inconsistencies.
- Verify that corrective actions have been completed before affected products are released.
- Review technical drawings, tolerances, specifications, and inspection instructions.
- Conduct routine production-line quality checks.
- Maintain calibration and condition records for inspection equipment where required.
- Assist with first-off, in-process, and final product inspections.
- Check supplier documentation and incoming material certification.
- Maintain traceability records for inspected components and production batches.
- Escalate significant quality concerns to engineering or quality management teams.
- Assist with internal quality audits and preparation of supporting documentation.
- Prepare inspection reports highlighting defect trends and recurring issues.
- Support continuous improvement activities designed to reduce defects and rework.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, engineering, production, or a related technical environment is preferred.
- Ability to read technical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, or manufacturing specifications.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, gauges, or similar inspection tools is advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and confidence identifying small variations or defects.
- Comfortable recording inspection information accurately using digital systems or spreadsheets.
- Basic knowledge of quality control and non-conformance procedures.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Experience within automotive, battery manufacturing, electronics, engineering, or advanced manufacturing would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality-management standards is advantageous.
Pay: £2,700.00-£3,300.00 per month
