Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Store Detective to join our security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring store premises to prevent theft, ensure safety, and uphold company policies. This role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals interested in security operations and maintaining a safe shopping environment. Prior experience in surveillance or security is essential. The position is paid and suitable for those who are attentive, trustworthy, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
This is a full-time position working a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern.
Please note: Candidates must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle, as regular travel between sites is required. We offer a travel allowance of up to £250 per month to help cover travel costs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular surveillance of store areas using CCTV equipment and physical patrols to deter theft and identify suspicious activity.
- Monitor customer and staff behaviour to detect potential theft or misconduct.
- Write detailed reports on incidents, observations, and security breaches accurately and promptly.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, by providing first aid when necessary.
- Enforce store policies and liaise with management regarding security concerns.
- Maintain a visible presence within the store to promote safety and deter unlawful activity.
Skills
- Proficiency in surveillance techniques and familiarity with CCTV systems is desirable.
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail to document incidents clearly and accurately.
- First aid certification or the ability to provide basic medical assistance in emergencies.
- Excellent observational skills with the ability to remain alert over extended periods.
- Good communication skills for liaising with staff, management, and emergency services when necessary.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
