About the Role
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd is one of the UK’s leading specialist steel sheet piling contractors. We are recruiting a Piling Estimator to join our pre-construction team at our head office in Chorley, Lancashire, working across a wide range of sectors including highways, water, rail, residential development, marine and flood defence.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing tender drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, ground investigation information, programme requirements and proposed contractual terms
- Preparing take-offs, first principles cost build ups, estimating notes, tender programmes and priced schedules or bills of quantities.
- Identifying tender risks, opportunities, assumptions, qualifications and exclusions
- Selecting appropriate installation methods, plant and resources to deliver the tender
- Liaising with our in-house design team to ensure innovative and cost-effective solutions are developed and implemented
- Obtaining specialist subcontractor quotations, where applicable
- Preparing clear and professional tender submissions, ensuring all technical and commercial deliverables are accurate, compliant and submitted on time
- Participating in post tender presentations, clarifications and negotiations, including tender review and pre-award meetings.
- Preparing and delivering comprehensive contract award handovers to the construction, commercial and design teams
- Developing positive Client relationships and supporting the company in identifying repeat business and new opportunities
- Occasional travel throughout the UK for client meetings and site visits
Candidate Profile
- Typically two to five years relevant experience within construction, civil engineering or ground engineering disciplines
- A relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management quantity surveying or related discipline such as BEng, MEng or HNC / HND. Professional membership, or working towards membership, would be advantageous but not essential
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to prepare accurate first principles estimates.
- The ability to manage multiple tender enquiries and prioritise competing tender submission deadlines
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and confident working with electronic drawings and tender documentation
- Working knowledge of standard methods of measurement and forms of contract, particularly NEC
- Good communication & negotiation skills and a collaborative team approach
- Confidence in dealing with individuals at all levels including both technical and commercial
- The ambition to develop their career and grow with the business
Desirable
- Experience within the piling industry, ground engineering discipline or a background in civil engineering or quantity surveying
- A full UK driving licence

- £38,000 to £50,000 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications
