Job Overview
Our client, a well-established heavy engineering company, is seeking an experienced CNC Horizontal Borer - Setter/Operator/Programmer to join their day shift machine shop team.
This is a permanent opportunity within a specialist heavy engineering environment, where the successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC Horizontal Boring machines to manufacture medium to large engineering components.
The machines operate using Heidenhain control systems, and candidates must be capable of programming directly from engineering drawings to produce precision-machined components. You will be working on a variety of medium to heavy engineering workpieces, including large fabrications, castings, and complex machined components.

Key Responsibilities

Setting, operating, and programming CNC Horizontal Boring machines using Heidenhaincontrols.

Programming directly from engineering drawings and customer specifications.

Manufacturing medium to heavy engineering components to tight tolerances.

Machining large fabrications, castings, and complex engineering components.

Selecting suitable tooling, workholdingmethods, cutting conditions, and machining strategies.

Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using manual measuring equipment.

Ensuring all work meets customer specifications and quality standards.

Maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.

Supporting production requirements and completing overtime when required.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have:

Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC Horizontal Boring or CNC Horizontal Milling machines.

Strong knowledge of Heidenhaincontrol systems.

Ability to program directly from engineering drawings.

Experience machining medium to large engineering components.

Experience within a heavy engineering or similar manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of tooling, machining strategies, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.

Ability to inspect own work using manual measuring equipment.

A flexible approach with the willingness to work overtime when required.
Working Hours - Day Shift

Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30

Friday: 08:00 - 13:00

37 paid hours per week

30-minute unpaid lunch break Monday - Thursday

No lunch break on Friday
Overtime & Earnings

Minimum expectation of 11 hours overtime per week.

Overtime paid at T+1/3 (time and a third).

Sunday overtime paid at T+1/2 (time and a half).
Regular overtime provides an excellent opportunity to significantly increase annual earnings.
