Team Leader
Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm
Overtime: £21.00 per hour after 46.25 hours
Saturday: Saturday morning overtime available when required
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Recycling Team Leader to join a busy recycling facility.
You will play an important role in supporting the Site Supervisor and Account Manager with the day-to-day running of the operation, leading a team of Operatives and ensuring the site maintains high standards of safety, quality, production, and recycling efficiency.
This is a hands-on position where you will work alongside the team while also taking responsibility for ensuring procedures and standards are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the team to ensure material quality standards and regulatory requirements are consistently met.
- Support the Supervisor in overseeing Operatives working on the production lines.
- Ensure all team members follow relevant SOPs and site procedures.
- Train and support staff as required.
- Ensure correct PPE is issued and worn at all times.
- Control machine isolation procedures during group cleaning and maintenance activities.
- Liaise with the Quality Analysis team and support the Supervisor in responding to quality information.
- Help maintain consistently high-quality recycled products.
- Work alongside the team and provide operational cover when required.
- Monitor production levels and ensure maximum recycling efficiency is achieved.
- Report incidents, accidents, hazards, and unsafe practices in line with company procedures.
- Promote and support a strong Health & Safety culture across the site.
- Ensure all team members understand and follow safe working practices.
- Assist with the day-to-day operational activities of the recycling facility.
- Complete all required training and continually develop your skills.
- Carry out other duties as required to support the smooth running of the site.
Health & Safety
You will have responsibility for maintaining high Health & Safety standards for yourself, your team, colleagues, contractors, and anyone else who may be affected by site operations.
You must ensure that:
- All relevant Health & Safety procedures are followed.
- Correct PPE is worn at all times.
- Unsafe practices, accidents, incidents, and hazards are reported promptly.
- Team members work safely and follow site procedures.
- Machine isolation procedures are followed correctly during cleaning and maintenance.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a recycling, waste, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Confident leading and supporting a team.
- Comfortable working around machinery and production lines.
- Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
- A strong communicator who can work effectively with Operatives, Supervisors, and management.
- Flexible and willing to work additional hours when required.
- Happy to take a hands-on approach and support the team with operational duties.
