About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have complex learning, communication, physical, and medical needs. You will work alongside teachers, therapists, and other support staff to provide highly personalised support and help pupils develop their communication, independence, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with PMLD
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, sensory, and physical development
- Assist with implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
- Provide personal care, including toileting, changing, feeding, and other daily care needs
- Support pupils with mobility and physical needs where required
- Use sensory and communication-based approaches to encourage engagement
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Encourage independence and participation in classroom and school activities
- Follow individual care plans and medical guidance where required
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex SEN
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
- Experience within a specialist SEN school
- Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, complex physical or medical needs
- Manual handling / moving and handling training
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, sensory learning, or Intensive Interaction
- Experience working alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, or Speech and Language Therapists

Pay: £101.68-£110.00 per day
