We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team at the Gibside Hotel.
This is an important role within the hotel, helping to keep the kitchen clean, organised and operating efficiently. You will work closely with the chefs and wider hotel team to ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety are maintained at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Washing plates, cutlery, glasses, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
- Operating and cleaning the commercial dishwasher.
- Keeping the kitchen, wash-up area and storage areas clean and organised.
- Ensuring clean equipment, crockery and utensils are available for service.
- Removing rubbish and recycling safely and regularly.
- Cleaning floors, walls, work surfaces and kitchen equipment.
- Following all food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures.
- Assisting with deliveries and safely storing stock when required.
- Helping with basic food preparation where appropriate and once trained.
- Supporting the chefs and wider kitchen team during busy services.
- Reporting any damaged equipment, maintenance issues or safety concerns.
- Completing opening, closing and cleaning duties as instructed.
- Working efficiently to ensure the kitchen is ready for breakfast, lunch, evening meals, functions and Sunday lunch service.
About You
You do not need previous kitchen experience, as training can be provided. However, you must be:
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Able to work quickly while maintaining high standards.
- Comfortable working in a busy and physically demanding environment.
- Willing to work as part of a team and help others when needed.
- Able to follow instructions and complete tasks without constant supervision.
- Flexible regarding working hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Committed to maintaining excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Professional and respectful towards colleagues and customers.
Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Dishwasher, Catering Assistant or in a similar hospitality role would be an advantage.
Working Hours
This role will involve a mixture of weekday, evening and weekend shifts. Shift patterns will be arranged according to the needs of the hotel and may include split shifts during busy periods.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
