In addition to our luxury accommodation, we deliver amazing dining experiences across our restaurants, alongside incredible leisure facilities and ASPA, Scotland’s first island destination spa.
In November, we will be opening Bay Café by Auchrannie, an exciting new venture in the heart of Brodick. The café will offer fresh, tasty food, quality drinks and the friendly, welcoming service for which Auchrannie is known.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced, organised and guest-focused Café Manager to lead the team at Bay Café by Auchrannie.
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the café, ensuring our customers receive a warm welcome, excellent service and a consistently high-quality experience. You will be a keyholder with responsibility for opening and closing the café, leading the team during service and maintaining all operational, safety and compliance standards.
You will report to, and be supported by, the management team at Auchrannie Resort. However, you will be trusted to manage the café’s daily operation confidently, make appropriate decisions and communicate any significant concerns promptly.
As this is a new venture, you will also play an important role in establishing the café’s culture, service standards and ways of working.
In this role, you will:
- take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the café, including keyholding, opening, closing and security procedures
- lead the team during service, allocate responsibilities and create a warm, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues
- maintain a visible presence in the café, ensure consistently high service standards and resolve customer complaints calmly and professionally
- work closely with the Chef Shift Leader and kitchen team to maintain effective communication, service times, food quality and product availability
- recruit, induct, train and support team members, maintaining accurate training records and addressing performance concerns appropriately
- prepare rotas, manage daily staffing and support effective control of labour, stock, waste and other operating costs
- ensure all food safety, allergen, health and safety, cleaning and compliance records are completed accurately and required standards are maintained
- oversee stock control, deliveries, till procedures, cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation, reporting key operational information to the resort management team.
To be a good fit for this role, you will:
- have previous management or supervisory experience within a busy café, restaurant, bistro or similar hospitality environment
- have a good understanding of both front-of-house service and general café operations
- be highly guest-focused and passionate about creating a warm and welcoming experience
- have experience leading, training and developing a hospitality team
- be organised, commercially aware and comfortable balancing service, staffing and administrative responsibilities
- remain calm, professional and solutions-focused when working under pressure
- have a good understanding of food safety, allergens, health and safety and workplace compliance requirements
- be reliable, flexible and confident taking responsibility for daily operational decisions.
Hours for this position may vary on a weekly basis and will be worked over five days out of seven. Shifts will be mainly during the daytime and will include weekends, although some evening shifts will also be required. The Café Manager will be expected to provide suitable management and keyholder cover according to the operational needs of the café.
