Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Hod Carrier to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will support bricklayers and other tradespeople by handling and transporting heavy building materials, ensuring smooth workflow on-site. Your proactive attitude and attention to safety will contribute significantly to project efficiency and quality. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on skills in masonry, carpentry, roofing, welding, and the use of various power and hand tools within a dynamic construction environment.
Duties
- Assist bricklayers carrying, loading, and unloading bricks, mortar, and other building materials to designated work areas
- Support the setup of scaffolding, ladders, and safety barriers to facilitate safe working conditions
- Handle and operate hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and measuring devices with precision
- Use power tools safely for tasks like cutting bricks or preparing mortar mixes under supervision
- Aid in the installation of masonry units, including bricklaying support when needed
- Support roofing teams by passing materials or assisting with lightweight tasks during roof construction or repairs
- Follow all safety protocols diligently to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and colleagues
Qualifications
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, masonry techniques, or carpentry is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Ability to lift heavy materials repeatedly and stand for extended periods during work shifts
- Knowledge of basic construction safety practices and willingness to adhere strictly to safety guidelines
- Strong teamwork skills with a proactive approach to assisting tradespeople on-site
- Nice-to-have skills include experience with roofing, welding, or bricklaying; certifications in these areas are advantageous but not mandatory
- Willingness to learn new skills related to masonry, roofing, welding, or other construction trades
