Join a team that genuinely puts people first.
At United Support Services, we provide high-quality supported living services for adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. We are passionate about helping people live meaningful, independent and fulfilling lives while creating a workplace where our staff feel valued, supported and empowered.
We're looking for an exceptional Senior Support Worker to join our leadership team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys leading by example. You'll work alongside our Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and Senior Support Workers to help maintain high standards across the service while also providing outstanding direct support to the people we support.
Unlike many senior roles, you won't be expected to lead every shift. Instead, you'll provide consistency, support and leadership across the service, stepping into leadership responsibilities where required while remaining hands-on and involved in delivering excellent person-centred support.
If you're someone who naturally encourages others, communicates exceptionally well and believes that kindness, patience and professionalism should be at the heart of care, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
- Act as a positive role model and demonstrate excellent professional practice.
- Support colleagues, offering guidance and encouragement where needed.
- Promote Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and person-centred approaches throughout the service.
- Administer medication safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete accurate, high-quality documentation and records.
- Work collaboratively with families and health professionals.
- Support with mentoring and developing newer members of the team.
- Complete delegated senior responsibilities to maintain high standards across the service.
- Work flexibly across different people we support and adapt to changing service needs.
About you
We're looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Experience in a leadership, supervisory or management role in any sector.
- Experience working in health and social care, or a genuine passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional patience, empathy and emotional resilience.
- A calm, positive and solution-focused approach.
- The confidence to support and encourage colleagues while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- A commitment to dignity, respect, independence and person-centred support.
- Flexibility to work across different people we support.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader.
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience mentoring or developing colleagues.
What you'll receive
- Full-time 36-hour contract.
- Senior rate of pay for all contracted hours.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Opportunities to progress within a growing organisation.
- A supportive and approachable management team.
- A positive workplace culture where your ideas and contributions are valued.
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives every day.
Why United Support Services?
We believe that outstanding support starts with outstanding people.
We're proud of the culture we've built—a team that genuinely cares about the people we support and each other. We invest heavily in training, Positive Behaviour Support, reflective practice and continuous improvement because we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
We're looking for someone who shares those values. Someone who leads with kindness, communicates with respect, remains calm under pressure and wants to be part of a team that's striving to be one of the very best supported living providers in Cornwall.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
