Overview
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Forklift Driver/Labourer to join our timber yard team. This role involves operating forklifts and assisting with various materials handling tasks to ensure the smooth flow of goods within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess relevant warehouse experience, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to perform heavy lifting safely. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in a busy compact timber yard.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift safely and efficiently to load, unload, goods in and loading our delivery vehicles.
- Assist with loading and receiving duties, including verifying incoming and outgoing materials.
- Handle materials using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper stacking and storage.
- Perform basic equipment checks on forklifts and other machinery.
- Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory movements accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Support with general labour tasks such as moving goods manually when required.
- Assist in stock organisation and inventory control processes.
Qualifications
- Valid forklift licence with proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic repair skills are advantageous.
- Experience in materials handling, shipping & receiving, or related roles within a warehouse environment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently, with good physical fitness.
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory counts and measurements.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Prior experience working with equipment is desirable.
