Purpose of Role
We are seeking a skilled Building Fabric Technician to join our facilities maintenance team, delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a secure Ministry of Defence site in Bicester.
Job Description
Working across a varied estate of operational and support buildings, you'll play a key role in maintaining the condition, safety, and functionality of the site's facilities. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, carrying out a broad range of fabric maintenance tasks while supporting the wider engineering team to ensure the estate remains operational.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive building fabric repairs across the site.
- Complete general building fabric maintenance including repairs to doors, locks, hinges, flooring, ceilings, walls, and internal fixtures.
- Undertake floor repairs including replacing tiles and carrying out minor flooring works.
- Carry out minor plumbing repairs including fixing leaks, replacing taps, and basic pipework maintenance.
- Complete basic decorating, painting, patch repairs, and general upkeep of internal and external areas.
- Support with minor maintenance tasks across other trades where required as part of a multi-skilled facilities team.
- Source materials and replacement parts required to complete repairs.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, compliance documentation, and CAFM system updates.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Proven experience in a Building Fabric, Carpenter, Multi-Skilled or Maintenance Technician role.
- Previous experience within commercial building maintenance or facilities management environments.
- Experience delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Comfortable working within a secure, operational Ministry of Defence environment.
- Good understanding of maintenance compliance, job reporting, and CAFM systems.
- Willing to participate in a 1 in 5 on-call rota.
- Full UK Driving Licence (maximum six penalty points and no drink driving convictions).
