Working Pattern: 10am–6pm office hours, plus one floor‑based Senior shift per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our leadership team at St Peter’s Residential Home. This is a full‑time managerial position supporting the Registered Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring high‑quality care, strong governance, and a positive working culture.
The Deputy Manager will work 40 hours per week, with core office hours of 10am–6pm when undertaking managerial duties. In addition, the role includes a minimum of one shift per week on the floor to maintain operational visibility, support staff, and stay connected to daily practice. The floor shift may be morning or afternoon, depending on the needs of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in all aspects of operational management and regulatory compliance
- Cover the Registered Manager when on annual leave or not in office.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to care staff
- Complete care planning, audits, assessments, and quality monitoring
- Ensure safe, effective, and person‑centred care delivery
- Lead by example during floor shifts, promoting best practice and supporting staff
- Contribute to staff training, development, and performance management
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold CQC standards
- Act as a point of contact for families, professionals, and external agencies
- Support with recruitment, and HR processes
- Assist with safeguarding, incident management, and risk assessments
- Extensive experience at administering medication in a busy care home environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in a senior care role (Senior Carer, Team Leader, Deputy Manager or similar)
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and adult social care standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly and cover additional shifts when required for the needs of the home
- Compassionate, professional, and committed to high‑quality care
- Level 3 Health & Social Care (minimum); Level 4 or 5 preferred or willingness to work towards it
- Experience in Auditing within a care home setting.
